Guide

Choosing the right maze for a child

Young solvers do best with fewer cells, wide paths and a clear start and finish. The Kids preset gives about 64 cells with long, gently winding paths and few short dead ends, so children can succeed without frustration and still feel challenged.

As skills grow, step up to Easy and then Medium, or keep the size and switch to a circle or hexagon maze for variety. Mazes help children practise planning, patience, fine motor control and pencil grip, and they are a calm activity for early finishers.
